Link CSCD 396 - Information Security
This course introduces you to the topic of computer security. No prior knowledge of computer security or computers is assumed. A variety of assignments will accommodate students of varying skills. After learning about threats to computers, students will then learn techniques for securing their computers. Operating system security will be covered including protection from viruses and spyware plus email security. We will also cover on-line security and danger from social networking sites and other websites. Defensive techniques will be taught such as virus scanners, browser toolbars, firewalls and other security tools. Labs will provide hands-on practice with security tools and techniques.

Link CSCD 479 - Web Programming - Security
Explore different aspects of information security as it pertains to the Internet and web programming. Topics covered may include the human element of security, data encryption, Secure Socket Layer programming, acquiring and installing Server Certificates, web attack types and how to defend against them, Intrusion Detection Systems, SQL Injection principles and their defense strategies and attack mitigation. Programming assignments, oral presentations and/or written reports will be required. --- Prerequisites: CSCD 379, Advancement in the Major.
Link CSCD 439/539 - Network Topics - Wireless Networks and Security
In this overview course we will cover the following topics: 802.11 and all the flavors, differences from wired networks, Wireless Hardware, Setting up a Wireless network, Security in Wireless such as WEP, 802.1X, 802.11i, Wireless Threats, Cracking WEP. In addition to the 802.11 standard, we will also cover Bluetooth, WiMAX and the emerging 3G cellular technologies (as time permits).
